Noctopus vs Noctopi

I have wanted to draw a distinction between Noctopus and the Noctopi. The reason they look different is that the Noctopi have evolved themselves since Noctopus left the collective mind.

Noctopus One of the original Noctopi invaders of the Generatrix. He left the collective mind to become the proprietor of the Prancing Pony. He is now allied with Zeek and his friends and has helped to stave off the second Noctopi invasion. The Noctopi. A telepathic species with a collective mind. They have conquered many universes and realities. Highly technologically advanced due to all the other species they have enslaved, they use the Zolteks as their slave warriors. Their pronouns are we and us.
