we haven't even started talking about grouped objects yet, just frames.

Actually if you select an object or group of objects and copy them by pushing ctrl c, you can paste them elsewhere by pressing ctrl v. Certain grouped objects may become distorted, but you can tweak them back to normal with a little persistence.
